Mount TV

Types of TV Mounts

  • Fixed Wall Mounts: These are the simplest type of mounts. They keep your TV close to the wall, providing a clean and minimalistic look. However, they don’t allow for any movement or adjustment once installed.
  • Tilting Wall Mounts: These mounts allow you to tilt your TV vertically. They’re useful if you’re mounting your TV higher than eye level (say, above a fireplace) because you can adjust the angle for better viewing.
  • Full-Motion (Articulating): These are the most flexible mounts. They allow you to swivel, tilt, and extend your TV away from the wall. Perfect if you want to watch from different angles or need to access ports behind the TV.
Considerations

  • Wall Type: Most TV wall mounts work with drywall and come with the necessary hardware. If you have plaster or masonry walls, you might need stronger hardware not included in the mount box.
  • VESA Pattern: All TVs have a standard mounting pattern called a VESA pattern. It’s an arrangement of holes on the back of the TV that allows you to attach it to the mount. Make sure your chosen mount matches your TV’s VESA pattern.
  • Weight and Screen Size: Check the product description or the mount’s box for information on the maximum weight and screen size it can handle. Different brands may vary even for the same TV size.
Placement Tips

  • Avoid Over the Fireplace: While it’s tempting to mount your TV above the fireplace, it’s not ideal due to heat and neck strain. If you must, consider a tilting mount.
  • Eye Level: For comfortable viewing, aim for the center of the TV screen to be at eye level when you’re seated.
